Sooo.....

looks like I can't find the key for the 675 after this long winter.

It's a track only bike so I was thinking about getting rid of the ignition all together.

the seat is my biggest issue right now. I need to take the tank off for maintenance.

any tips? How to?

*feel free to PM with info that we may not want to share with everyone*

thanks

yeah the dealer option is there, but I know it's a very expensive one. especially on a track only bike...

A locksmith should be able to make a key for you. It won't be a official Triumph key but it will work.

If the seat is the biggest issue. I had to get my passenger seat off my R1 without the key, long story. Bend the seat in the middle (it should crease from side to side not from to back) to get it to release from under the tank. Not sure if it will work on this bike. I know an R1 seat will bend. Grab it and rank hard.

Cut the cable to seat latch, then you just need to pull the portion of the cable to remove seat. No key needed anymore.

I'm looking into the possibilities of making such a system.

I'm more worried about the tank gas cap than everything else right now.

wtf was I thinking not putting the key somewhere safe...?

Do you have a receipt of purchase?

Did you get the key with the bike? Sounds like you may have to buy a new ignition, gas cap, seat lock with a key.
I have a BOS and salvage certificate. Bike came with the key, I managed to misplace it over the winter...

thinking about the new lockset once i get the gas cap off first.

Remove the tank, pull the fuel pump, and pop the latch from the inside?

For the seat, remove the rivits holding the lock to the inner fender, and pull on the cable.

You're on your own as far as "hot wiring" the main switch, but it's easy enough to figure out with a copy of the wiring print. Easily reversable too, once you get the new lockset.

I've had the fuel pump out of the tank, that does not look like an easy job to hit the tab on on the cap from the inside.

I would say if your going to get a new gas cap. Then "pound" a screwdriver into the keyhole and crank it.

Better yet search hi and low until you find the key....

i had sort of the same issue as my bike was a wreck and came without a key (well sort off) - a long screw driver can reach to the latch at the back of the seat to push the lock and pop off the seat without any damage. i ran the cable out the side of the tray and wire tied it so i can just pull the cable to get under the seat in the future.
i did manage to take the cap off by pretty much disassembeling it - mostly from the top.
on the ignition i found a good deal on just the ignition and key so i did that instead of doing the wiring mod.

That's a lot of work if you can get a key for around $50 (i thought it was a lot more).... I did not go that route since the key was broken off badly inside my ignition and it was not worth fixing.

oh and if you want a full keyed set drop me a pm - i bought a full set a few days before i ran into a deal on just the ignition that i ended up using.
